Countryfest update

Parkland Area RCMP officers responded to approximately 11 calls for service from the Countryfest site Thursday which included 5 assaults, 5 disturbances and 1 mischief. Officers patrolling the highways in and around the site issued approximately 30 tickets for a variety of infractions under the Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Control Act, including speeding, failing to wear a seatbelt, depositing litter on a highway and possessing liquor in an unauthorized place. Two 24 hour driver licence suspensions were issued and three people were arrested for Impaired Driving in unrelated vehicle stops. Shortly after 6:00 p.m. a 19 year old Winnipeg man was arrested as he was driving away from the site. Around 10:30 p.m., another vehicle leaving the site was stopped by officers. The 19 year old Winnipeg woman was found to be impaired and was arrested. Then around 4:20 a.m., a vehicle was observed traveling north on highway 10 from the Countryfest site and was noted to be swerving in it's lane of travel. The driver, an 18 year old Dauphin area woman was found to be impaired. All three people have been released from custody and will be appearing in Dauphin Court later this month.
